marshall on the London stage of the Tour of Britain :)

Anyone else done this before? I watched the final stage last year with Harry junior who loved it and happily stood there a watched very lap but I thought I'd try and become part of it this year

I marshalled on the London Stage of the ToB in 2006 and the prologue of the TdF in 2007, both of which were great fun.

I was on Baker Street for the ToB, then once the riders had passed I jumped on the tube to see the finish on the Mall and was able to get into an area about 50m from the finish which spectators were not able to get into.

I didn't get to see much of the racing at the Tour, they were using marshalls to provide information to spectators rather than direct traffic as it was on a closed circuit. Spent most of the day giving directions and telling people what time David Millar was coming past. But the cool bit was getting into the riders "pit" area on Birdcage Walk.

Are they still doing the briefings before the event, I'm sure they will give you more information on what to expect then.
