Right guys and girls,

I currently am running an (04) Kona coiler with Race Face evolve DH cranks with a Race Face SRX ISIS bottom bracket.

Now can i convert this to an X-type set up with the external bearings?????.

The only thing i can see is the non drive side lower supension arm runs real close to the BB shell and the BB face that the beraings would sit on(about 2mm clear of the face).

Not sure how much the bearing cup sits proud past the face it sits on???.

Thanks for any input given or better still any advice from someone who has already converted from isis to x-type on coiler.

Cheers Frank.

well you will need to buy a complete X type crankset as nothing you currently have is compatible.

I know that i was going to get the crankset and the bearings just needed advice if anybody has fitted one as to the clearance of the external bearings on the lower arm.

so the question was will X type cranks fit on a coiler 2004?

    yes.

    yes.

Again i know that the BB cups will fit the threads then crankset will fit into BB.

    BUT

The clearance to the lower suspension arm to where the external bearing cup would sit looks real tight (on the non drive side) about 2mm just wondered if anyone has actually fitted one to this year.

Didn't want to buy it all only to find it fouls on lower suspension arm arm.

    Cheers Frank

i think kona would probably have designed it with that in mind, so i'd be tempted to say yes... BUT, having not tried it or specifically looked for it, i wouldn't know for sure

    Cheers for reply,

Think your right ,had a look over the weekend at a couple of x-type bearing set up's on the bikes and they sit pretty flush with the face so shouldn't foul on lower arm.
