Afternoon folks, just deliberating as to what to wear/take next Sunday. Shorts or 3/4's or tights? Base layer, s/s top, arm warmers or and a jacket? This'll be my first 'biggy' so i'm unsure as to what to wear really. Hoping that any of you seasoned fellow cyclists can make some recommendations - cheers!
Oh and as an added incentive for me to get round, a certain Georgie Thompson of Sky Sports News fame will be setting off 4mins after me - might just have to take the first couple of miles easy and let her pass, ha!

7.20 start here
what sort of time you aiming for?0 -
From experience, whatever the weather for the day, it will be chilly at 7am. I'd recommend arm warmers or long sleeves, a packable waterproof in the back pocket, shorts if it is not raining, longs / leg warmers if it is.0

This time of year I always head off wearing arm warmers and knee warmers minimum.
If forecast not too good I always take a windprrof jacket also.
I wear a base layer, then summer top, and eihter another summer top or long sleeved top.
I also start with full gloves and swap to mitts mid ride.
You can always remove clothes but if you start at 7:30 and feel cold, you will feel cold for hours.0 -

I'm off at 7:28 and i had put down 5 1/2 plus. To be honest i'll be happy with anything around or under the 5 hour mark.
Cheers for all the other replies folks. Thinki best get investing in a pair of armwarmers. Forecast ain't looking too good either.0
