Hard-tail advice, if you will.

Hey there,
Basically I need a new hard-tail for getting fit again, will mainly be used for daily thrashes round the Forest of Dean. Nothing too massive, just a bit of offroad, and paths and the like.
My current budget is about 350 quid..and I've been looking at the Specialized Hardrock Disc..or something like that.
However, I can bounce my budget to 550 if I sell my iPhone.
So basically, what I want to know is, can you get way more bike for that extra 200 quid? and if so, any suggestions.
Don't want a full suspension, cus for that price they're meant to be craptastic aren't they?..I've already smashed one cheap one.
Cheers.

You can get way more than Hardrock for an extra 200 quid!
Have a read of the What Hardtail thread for some ideas. Also the Beginners sticky in that section for basic Q and A.
Then ask back!0 -
Had a look through that thread..(Don't know why I didn't before!)
Is the GT Avalanche 1.0 jobby much better than the Hardrock?
I had a Carrera Vulcan before, but managed to knacker the handlebars/thread thing so at speed, when you turned slightly, the bars turned and the wheel didn't. Mildly terrifying.0
