Best budget jacket

I'm looking for a budget jacket mainly for xc use that has some protection from the elements.
I have found the following at a reasonable prices:
Montane Featherlite Smock = £28
Altura Nevis 2009 = £35
Altura Crossmax = £32.50
Cannondale Morphis 2007 = £36
Anyone have any opinions or other suggestions for <£40

I bought an Endura Laser last year and it has been outstanding. The bog-basic construction allows it to breathe well and apart from a little bit of corrosion on the zip it is hanging in there. May also be worth having a look round TK Maxx - I bought a Dare2B (Regatta) windshell for £30 to use over Winter. Some the the Animal Freeride kit is also being discounted.0

I've got an Altura Nevis. It's fine. Keeps you dry, has good ventilation, fits well and has pockets for valuables - and you may still be able to pick it up free with a subscription to MBR
