I am looking to run a bike maintenance course.

Any suggestions on topics to cover?

Cheers

Already got the basics in mind

Brake setup (V, canti, cable disc, hydrailic disc)
    Gear setup(indexing, derailleur setup)
Tyre change, puncture repair, recommended pressures.
    Headset adjustment
    Wheel truing
    Hub servicing
    BB Removal

No responses, looks like a gap in the market for someone!

I suppose bike maintenance is relatively simple compare to car repair and you can look up how to do things in books and on the net, however with the rise of bike popularity I'm sure there would be a market for training in bike repair, for both individuals and for people working at repair shops.

I went in to 2 of the local bike shops near where I work in London - Condor Cycles and Cycle Surgery to get a spoke replaced last week. Both said they wouldn't be able to do it for 2 weeks as they were too busy! Condor said that they may be able to squeeze me in earlier if it was a simple job, but it would still probably take a week. Both shops are always rammed full of people almost permanently and I think the demand for repairs and maintanence can only rise.

I wish I had the know how to start up course myself and offer bike repair or even just basic things like how to keep your bike ticking over with simple things like optimum tyre pressure, cleaning and regreasing the chain etc. The number of people you see in London cycling with almost flat tyres, ineffective, baldy adjusted brakes and chains that squeak like a box of mice is amazing. I'm sure there some money to be made there by someone.
