If you haven't already got it, there's a pretty nifty software update available. The GPS connection seems quicker and more reliable and the upload to the sports tracker site is much quicker.

Most useful aspect though is the inclusion of maps on the mobile screen. Previously before where you could see your route but all it showed was a blue line on a white background, the white background has been replaced with maps!

    Nice,

My N95 recently died so I'm tracker-less (and bloody MP3-less) but it's replacement will be here soon.

If they really wanted to impress me though they could do two things:

1, make the dam thing work without the slide having to be open. My GPS only works when it's fully un-slid. Doesn't take to much of a landing to close it in my Camelbak.

2, Make the thing work offline. I don't mind it all 3G'd up over here, but it costs a fortune for 3G abroad. I'd love to find out my MAX speed etc, coming down the DH tracks in Morzine, but I'm not paying £'s a min to find out.

Both Sportstracker and Nokia Maps works offline for me. I used it on my tour in Tuscany last week - completely off line.

Get a candy bar rather than slider - I have an n82 and it is slimmer and more ergonomic than the n95 and has better gps reception I believe (there are newer models now, like the n79 which comes with a Polar hrm integrated with Sportstracker). Sorry, but the n95 always struck me as being a brick! The screens on the candy bar models are smaller but still large enough for me to use as my in car sat nav without any problem.

Doesn't cost anything to upload it to the website if you connect the phone to the PC with a USB cable and export the route as a GPX then upload it.

Oh I see, you mean online to upload workouts to the web. I just did that all on my return to UK, or you can find any wifi link you can access.

Might just be me being an idiot, but mine only works if it's connected via 3G. It automatically connects when I turn on the sports tracker, if I manualy disconect the sportstracker doesn't record anything. I;ll have another go when my new phone arrives.

With the first software version I had there was a bug whereby the timer would keep running but no gps logging would happen once I left home. It was trying to connect all the time to my home network (the default access point). If I set the access point to none, it worked fine, but I sometimes forgot to change it back to none after uploading workouts. This was also resolved if I scrolled to the second screen, i.e. from the one without the blue line showing the track. Maybe this is the issue you are having.

The latest version of the software has resolved this issue.

Used this for the first time the other day on my n5800, really suprised it worked in a dense forest. Did make the mistake of telling the mrs that it had live tracking though

Yeah I think the update has been out a few weeks now. My 95 doesnt have a problem working with the slider closed ? I always use it like that and its fine.

It does burn the battery up a bit though - 5 hours is about as much as I've got with it plotting the route for me.
