creaking specialized tarmac comp frame
I have a Specialized Tarmac Comp frame.Purchased in Jan '07.Frame size 56cm.
It has the seatpost clamp that is built into the frame. Not the more normal one.
Over the last 6/8 months i've been getting a creaking noise from the seatpost clamp area.
I've ridden the bike without a seatpost and clamp and the creaking stops.
There is plenty of post inside the frame.
I have changed the seatpost and saddle but the creak is still there.
I have never raced or crashed the frameset.
Has anyone experienced this and if so what did they do?
Thanks in advance.

Are you sure is not the saddle rails creaking in the seatpost clamp... that is generally the case.
If they're not carbon ones, give them a 1/4 turn with the allen key and they should stop.left the forum March 20230 -
I've tried it with a different saddle.I have tried it real tight and fairly tight. No joy.0

I have started using a silicon spray lube - invisible once dry - and it has cured all sorts of creaks on my bikes, a spray on the saddle rails is now part of my weekly routine. You can get it in B+Q and it smells like lemon Pledge!Trying my best to do 300 miles a month on and off road.0

works great for cleats and pedal creaks too.Trying my best to do 300 miles a month on and off road.0

I was begining to think there was a problem with the frame. But as there is no noise when the bike is ridden without the post and clamp it can't be.
I will try the silicon spray and let you know.
Seems strange that Specialized have altered the seatpost clamp this year. They are using a traditionla clamp. Not the built in one.0
