Rejoining Campag C10 chain
Split the chain earlier to day to clean it properly off bike but when it was clean I could see that a pair of links, the only ones, had EXT on them. I broke it at a link which just had C10 on which I guess is not the ones you are supposed to use but the EXT links which I missed  . Normally I use Shimano 9spd Ultegra/Dura-Ace chains for my other bikes joining the chains with Shimano Dura-Ace pins but have recently gone with SRAM quick links as it was working out expensive breaking the chain for cleaning and relubing. It has been so long since I cleaned the drive chain on this bike I had forgotten that there were differences between Shimano and Campag chains and it's Campag of course  .
So my options are to refit chain and link it with either a permanent Campag HD link pin (Parkers do them for £13!!!) or use a quick link such as SRAM or KMC, or my preferred choice, Wipperman Connex quick link (£5.99) which according to feedback left on CRC is the best quick link.
What do peeps think?
Sorry for the very basic nature of the post I'm not usually stooping to muppetry  .

I'd be tempted to get a new chain. I use the Campag chain tool (at the price you'd want to use it every day to get some value for money!) and it was certainly different doing a record 10 speed chain compared to any I've done before.
£13 is about half the price of a new chain and you'd have the comfort of knowing it was on properly. one of the guys i know had his break on a climb after bodging it. 10 speed Campag chains aren't the most forgiving.0 -
I use a quick link - think I used a KMC one last time just because I knew it was 5.9mm the same as the chain - that's not to say the others aren't but I knew the KMC one was.

Don't just rejoin it using the old pin - I did exactly that a month ago the day before the Tour of Flanders Sportive, got round that okay and did 25 miles the day after. On the Tuesday I went for a short spin and heard rubbing on my front - it was where the outer plates on the chain were moving out and off the pin.
My LBS says you can't use a KMC quick link on a Campag chain - but if it fits and works I can't see there would be any problem.
My personal solution has been to swith to a Connex chain with the quick link so i can remove the chain without using a tool. For the cost of a chain and the potential implications if the chain breaks, I'd err on the side of caution0 -
Thanks for the advice guys. My thoughts are swaying to get just a chain quick link Connex (£5.99) or poss KMC (£3.99) above. SRAM (Campag) is a powerlock link designed not to come undone rather than a quick link, although I read the Connex is the best for not coming undone. My Campag chain is in excellent condition as it hasn't covered many miles so don't want to thave to buy another. CRC are out of stock of Connex Campag links. The only other people who have them in stock appear to be SJS but their website wants £2.50 postage!!!Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.

It's one of these http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=A0309 that I use. Not that cheap but you do get two and I reuse them so that should last pretty much until you lose them.

Cheers for the link Tom, going to get a couple of them in case of a snapped chain out on a ride - wouldn't want to run the risk of repeating my attempt of reusing a standard pin0
