Hi, I took the plunge on Friday and got myself a second hand bike, am i'm really happy with it but i dont know much about the suspension on it, the front fork is a Rockshox Judl SL model with about 80 - 120mm adjustable travel with no lockout
the rear shock is a Fox vanilla coilover style shock
I would just like some honest advice because i'm debating on a upgrading but don't know what the general thoughts about these are so all opinions welcome, please be honest, had a scout over the net but Im not 100% what year front & rear shocks are from so published reviews are pretty useless to me

Sounds like you have a Judy Uturn from 2005-2006. Not bad, a bit heavy and quite flexy at full travel.
What bike is it? Shock is very good.0 -
I bought a GT i Drive Comp for 350 with various bits and pieces on it0

Not too bad for the money - keep an eye on the bearings and all should fine.0

the bike is this one from ebay

Cheers for advice about bearings, is it a simple operation to take them out and grease them up?0 -
Basic but functional rear shock I would keep that, but bin the forks they are the entry level rockshox of old, and if you fitted something like a 2003-2005 Marzocchi MX comp, or a new Rockshox Tora or Recon it would make a massive difference. Or if you have the cas get a Fox Vanilla or float fork, can be picked up on ebay for as little as £200.
Good luck with the I-drive I would never buy one 2nd hand, seen a fair few problems with em'- I drive bearings, bent rear triangles, cracked frames..... (and they weigh a ton!) overated to be honest.0 -
ok thanks for the info, feels good so far anyway, Ill just use it until it breaks, feels very smooth, just guess we'll see how it goes.
Cheers for the fork info, ill have a look around, i wasn't so sure on the front fork so i did anticipate it would prob be upgraded sooner or later0
