V-Brake brake pads on standard road-bike calipers?

Can it be done? Just realised I have some spare v-brake pads which are very good/expensive but no longer have a bike with v-brakes.

Don't have my bike currently, so can't check/experiment...

    Brake shoes normally have a bush or sleeve to prevent the screw threads rubbing against the inside of the caliper arms, whereas with the fatter V's you can't have one - potential to 'fret' on the inside of the caliper arm and lead to premature failure. I'd do it only as a last resort until I could get some proper road pads
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
