Hey

My LBS finished rebuilding my Hub as I messed it up

And asked when I picked it up, can I use those cool looking hope rotors on my Magura Louise 2008 brakes, he said yes as long as they match, like 160mm for the same in hope.

I asked is there a different thickness and he said not they are all the same, but they dont look it.

But then again I ask him to do other stuff on my bike and he does not do it, like replacing my front gear cable, He said oh, well we could have put one on for you but it wont break it will be fine, I said I did ask, he said well I will put one on.He does this all the time, they dont listen, if it was my business, if someone asked me to do something I would as its more money for me... Now I have to do it myself, and have no idea.

I dont really think he cares about making money, and so I doubt what he said about the rotors.

So will they fit if I just buy a 6 bolt 160mm rotor hope?

Thanks

you will lose the magura 5 year anti leak warrenty. and the calipers may catch.

Not really worried about the 5 year warranty, had them for almost 2 years and they have been fine.

What do you mean they might catch?

Sorry never done this before as most things on my bike.

I am fixing and hoping for the best, and then if I screw up, its down the LBS.

    Thanks

Ive tried a few different disc/caliper combos and come to the conclusion that you are always better off just getting the correct rotors for your brakes.

The main issue is the wear surface of the disc compared to the surface area of the pad. If the pad overlaps on the outside edge it will wear unevenly and the pad will break up. If it overlaps on the inside ie the pad hits too much of the spoke then you risk damaging the disk and pad.

    Thanks guys

I really wish you could buy different rotors for the magura.

They all look pretty basic, and the hopes look sweet, but have not got the money to buy a set of hopes, and have not heard to much good stuff about them.

They are like marmite, you either love or hate.

    Thanks anyway guys
