OK, so currently have 2 bikes, 08 enduro and an 05 Marin. Have decided that I want to sell the Marin and put funds towards a decent Steel Hardtail.
Any tips. My mate says get a Cotic....but they aint cheap and I'm not sure I really want a second real expensive bike [on top of the Enduro] to run and buy cool bits for all the time!!
So, aside from the lovely Cotic, any ideas??

Before I got the Soul, I spent a lot of time considering an Inbred, or maybe a 456... depending on what mood I was and how deluded I was about my hardcorousness. I'm sure either would have done a good job. Various Genesises look good too.Uncompromising extremist0

Genesi lol.
Rock lobster too? For a decent value XC steel feel?0 -
Had a 30 min shot on a Cove Handjob (steel) last week and loved it. Also spent several hours on a Cove Hummer (Ti) the next day. To be honest the Hummer didn't feel £1000 better. It felt lighter but then it had a lighter build so not really a fair comparison. I'd choose steel over Titainium.0

I have two steelies, one old saracen i think which is a cheapy for work and a Salsa Ala Carte which is just brilliant and had it resprayed too (see signature) if you want a serious steelie its worth considering.0

I'd hang fire a month or two and see what the ragley blue pigs have to offer.0

few i can of,
charge duster high (tange prestige tubing) steel i think? £1200.
merlin rock lobster 853, full builds from £900-£1300ish depending what upgrades you go for.
a few months orange might release the "R8" another 853 jobby i think. looks very similar to the lobster i think apart from colour.0 -
I've decided on a Cotic Bfe.
Basically I like the quality of frame, the design/paint and the (Warning: w*nky bit coming up) company ethos.

If you want to ride very hard, a good choice! Has a pound more steel in it than the standard Soul to beef it up.0

I have aspirations beyond my current skill set you might say, but even if that never changes it will hopefully never break!0 -
Have to decide on kit now!0

Hmmm....choices choices...not really sure on what forks. I def want SRAM drivetrain, but then there is stem...bars...seatpost etc etc
Kit is the hardest stuff to choose I reckon0
