New freehub is much louder

Hi,
I replaced the freehub cover and endcap on my aging bonty race x lite rear wheel with a new dt swiss 240s one (the bonty is a rebadged dt swiss hub) . The usual clicking noise of my rear wheel is now much louder when free wheeling, nothing astonishing but a marked difference.
Why would this happen?
I have checked assembly and grease etc and its all looking the same as before. The base of the dt swiss freehub cover is slightly less "ornate" - can this really affect the acoustics.
I'm not bothered at all, just curious.

Mine was exactly the same when I had it replaced. Before it was almost silent and now sounds more like my Ksyrium ones.0
