Singlespeed gear ratios

Im currently building up a new bike (singlespeed) for jumps, basic freeride etc.
On my old bike, if I am jumping etc, I use the middle cog (32t) and at the back one with 17t.
My new bike has a 15t cog on the rear wheel - what size front cog do I need. I have seen some people say you just have to add enough cogs to make whatever total you want but this seems a bit simple and change the ratio? (I would rather not change the rear cog on the new bike yet - im running out of money as it is!)
Thanks

If you want to keep the same ratio it's simple maths! You'll want a 28.0

so how do you work it out if you dont add it up then?My Website - Trail Centre info for the UK: MTB Trail Time0 -
32/17 = 1.88 (Your previous ratio)
15 x 1.88 = 28.20 -

You'll need java installed for this webby to work. Gives you the GI, ratio and combos to give the same ratio with different rings & sprockets.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
