Great bike ... shame about the colour

Have just ordered a Specialized Rockhopper Pro '09 model. Am very excited about the bike as it feels a really good fit for me, and I'm pleased with the components list, however I'm less pleased about the colour - "champagne", also known as "pimp" or "ewww, is that gold?"

So ... I'm after any tips people have for doing something about it. Decals? Respray companies? Industrial suppliers of permanent markers?

:)

  • you got the rockhopper "pimp bike" nothin wrong with gold colour to show off your new bike.

though i suggest not leaving it out in open or not locked sinse thiefs will surely love the gold bike even more.

how much you get it for by the way?

i dont think you can get pro in any other colour as it the top rockhopper bike model and thus needs to show off.

I get quite enough grief for my gold mondeo (it was cheap, ok?) so have had quite enough gold, even if it is the top bike :)

I think it was about 970? Getting it through the Bike2Work scheme (get about a 48% discount), so works out far cheaper in the long run.

No, they don't come in anything other than gold. I've just found the Argos Cycles website and have sent them an email asking for some pricing information. Does anyone know if it'd affect warranties or resale value if I got it sprayed (assuming it wasn't too lurid or distasteful)?

    It's nice'ish colour.

You wanna see the abuse I get off my mates for riding a pearlescent orange cove handjob, "Gay bike" is heard atleast a zillion times per ride he hee :D
  • Nah that aint gold! I reckon its pretty nice, although if you do fancy a respray, try PMing this guy as he had it done to his SX Trail, with custom decals etc. Done an amazing job on it so would be worth asking where he had it done!
