Shimano Octalink 105 cranks and Bottom Bracket ES51
I think es51 is a Deore bb, which is Octalink V2. A 105 road crank needs octalink V1, I don't think they're interchangeable. See pics here.........

There are two types of octalink, the mountain bike ones (such as ES51) with larger splines, and road type (i.e. 105 5500) which has smaller splines. You need the latter, the former won't work with a 105 chainset.
This one in other words:

Make sure you get the right length, and shell width. It's 109.5 for a double chainset and 118.5 for a triple - most shells are 68mm but check yours isn't 73mm or even italian thread 70mm! Take yours out amd have a look/measure.
It's a wise choice anyway; 9 speed 105 is a much better bet than a newer 10 speed chainset with external bearings for a workhorse - it will be much longer lived and reliable.0
