Hey
I am going to clean and strip my hubs and put a new cassette on and new front mech.
Also I am planning on taking the cranks of and giving them a good clean, they are 2008 LX Hollowtech.
Is this quite easy, I have asked for advised on the wheels, which I am confident I can do, and all I am going to do with front mech, is trace with pencil were the mech lies now and they remove and put the new one on the same spot, prob seems quite amature, but I am not good with measurments..
Anything I need to know before removing the cranks and re-greasing, also what type or grease do I need if any.. Thanks guys

I find park tools uses tech terms for people who know what they are on about,
I have no clue..
I am a stip it and figure it out later type of guy.
Might have a look on youtube and see if there are videos.
Cant find a video though on how to fit a front mech0 -
the guide on park for mech adjustment is quite good. I followed it and managed my 1st deraileur set up0

Shimano's website will have downloadable pdfs of all the instruction leaflets.0

There are some really good guides on you tube which are easy to follow,on various topics such as Hollowtech 2 replacement, gear mech set up,etc. The Shimano sitei s good for technical instructions too.I`d also look at the Bike magic website "know how" section, which lays out most of these jobs in plain english.
Removing ht2 cranks is dead easy, but make sure you take care when retightening the pinch bolts and pretensioning cap when replacing.
The pretension cap needs only to be done up finger tight, and make sure the 2 pinch bolts are done up evenly, reasonably tight but take care not to overtighten.
Might be worth investing in a torque wrench if you don`t have feel for whats right.
If you get stuck, feel free to ask me,as I have learnt some of these thing by trial and error.(Mostly error!)2006 Giant XTC
