Is this a Chorus cassette?
I'm about to sell a 10spd cassette on ebay but wanted to check which model it is. It's off a donor bike and there are no obvious markings on it, other than the tooth number.
I reckon it's a Chorus - here is a pic
it weighs 229g (without the lockring) which according to weenies makes it a Chorus. Record is lighter and everything else is heavier.
It's 12-25 and the sprockets are 12,13,14,15, [16+17], [19+21], [23+25]
what d'ya reckon.....

Looks like Record to me.
I thought the rule for 10s was:
- last 2 sprockets on carrier = Centaur (pre '09, '09-> all seperate)
- last 4 sprockets on carriers = Chorus
- last 6 sprockets on carriers = Record.
The spacers look like Record also.
Are the last 4 cogs in Titanium?0 -
my judgement was purely based on weight, that's all. The bike did have Record mechs so it could easily be Record.
The last 4 cogs look like steel to me, but I don't have it in front of me right now so I can't confirm.
I'll check the weight again tonight. Weenies has the 12-25 as sub-200gFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Could you check with a magnet to see if they are steel or Ti?Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

Looks like Chorus - titanium sprockets are a different colour - these all look the same colour i.e. steelMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

all sprockets are steel and it's definitely 228g
my money is on ChorusFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Yeah I think I've given duff imformation above: looking through the Campag catalogue there's a cut-away drawing of a Chorus cassette showing the last 6 sprockets on 3 alloy carriers.
You live and learn.
Sounds like Chorus = Record without any Ti sprockets.0 -
Chorus only has 2 lots of sprockets on alloy carriers.
Record was also made in full steel to but with more sprockets on alloy carriers.
My Centaur has first 2 on alloy carriers, My Chorus has first 4 on alloy carriers.
I'd guess its Record0 -
here we go...
doesn't it depend on the teeth count as to whether there are two or three spiders?
I've been trawling the interweb and seen some Chorus 12-23s with two spiders and some 12-25s with three. The thing is the steel Records are just not 229g, not according weenies.
