SRAM casette on Shimano freehub...

Not if the cassette is tight when the lockring is tightened, otherwise yes.0

I think it depends on what wheel you install it on. but I have the spacer on all my Mavic wheels. I think Mavic uses a slightly different freehub than the Shimano one. But basically as the above poster says - if it's tight without the spacer, then you're fine. If it's loose - add the spacer.
What wheelset is it for?0 -
not used a spacer on my two wheelsets (one Shimano hub, one Hope Pro3)
we're talking 10speed obviously...?Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Sorry, I should have been more specific.
It's a ten-speed cassette, going on a 105 hub.
The instructions say to use a spacer, but that's obviously with a Shimano cassette. I'm just not sure if there's a difference in width between SRAM and Shimano cassettes.0 -
If it's going onto a Shimano freehub (actually MADE by Shimano) then I don't think you need the spacer. I believe that Shimano 10 speed cassettes need a spacer as they are actually smaller than the 8 and 9 speed cassettes.0

They just need the same as the shimano cassette... Dat's wot I found anyhoo.0

Just changed my shimano 105 12-25 for a Sram 12-28 with no problems just a straight swap. The wheels are Marvic with a short cage Dura ace.
