My seat post slips down - what to do?

My seat post doesn't seem to like me being sat on the saddle, if I raise it even a few mil it will go down when riding. It is the bog standard alloy post that comes with my Giant SCR2. Do you think I need a new seatpost? New clamp? If so, are those carbon seat posts from PBK any good?

Cheers,
Gabriel

Try some carbon assembly paste, which is not only anti-seize but is also sticky. Even copper grease might work. Alternatively try Probikekit for an anti slip collar which fits round the post. They are not listed on the website but they used to supply them with carbon seatposts, but not with the last one I bought.

As regards their cheap carbon seatposts, I have one and they are good enough but no lighter than most alloy posts.

I had the same problem. Drove me mad for weeks. Greased it. Never moved since.

(I had eagerly "cleaned" it whilst tinkering with the bike one day, huge mistake)

Rough it up with sandpaper.A carbon post is even more likely to slip but I use carbogrip,or something,a spray which works on carbon.First check the shop haven`t put the wrong size clamp on as happened to me.
