When I pedal hard (I mean standing on the pedals or pushing really hard in a high gear not fast rotataion), there is this clicking which sounds like something is catching, the bike itself still feels smooth, and I can't feel anything through the pedals but when I stop pedaling the clicking stops. Anyone got any idea's?

lose cranks? pedals? cleats moving in the pedals?
you need to work out when the click happens. ( where in the rotation)."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

You also might want to check that the front derailleur cable is not hitting the right hand side crank arm with every rotation.0

I tried to work out where but it seems to be in no particular place, just when I push and when the pedals are in rotation, if I stop pedaling the noise stops and it's not all the time ....although most of the time.
I have toe clips not cleats - only been serious about 6 months and I'm a bit weary of them....I've heard they take a lot of getting used too.0 -
You want to try and work out where it's coming from. Best way is to get the bike on a stand (or hanging from the ceiling or something) and do a few simple tests.
Try and replicate the noise and you can often hear where it's coming from.
If it's a rhythmic click try and work out if it's happening with each turn of the crank - a good way to do that is to change gears and see if the tempo changes - if it does it's more likely to be the rear wheel or chain.
If it happens with each rotation of the cranks and doesn't change with the gears then it's something at the front. First thing to check would be anything rubbing (as already said it could be something silly like the cable) - especially the chain on the mech.
If there's nothing obvious it could be your bottom bracket - a good way to check that is to put a screwdriver on the shell and your ear on the plastic end and then spin the pedals - you can often hear the grumbliness.
I had a daft one on Friday when fixing a grindy noise from someone's chainset - it always happened with the drive side crank at 6 o'clock but we couldn't find anything. Turned out he had biopace rings and the derailleur cage was a little low - but it only rubbed when in the inner ring and with the crank in the way so you couldn't see it. Was driving me nuts until I noticed it.I'm left handed, if that matters.0 -
I had this problem. It was the free hub slipping. But it's a case of elimination0
