Hi there,

I purchased a Bianchi C2C Via Nirone 7 Aluminium Sora 9 speed Compact 2008 Road Bike from evanscycles in may last year, but on the way home from work today the pedal just fell out. There is nothing wrong with the pedal itself, but the thread on the crankset appeared to still be attached to the pedal and therfor no new pedal can be added.

The pedals were in the correct postion (i.e. left pedal on left hand side etc), but the pedals were purchased seperately from the bike and attached last year.

It looks like the bike needs a new crankset, anyone know if this would be covered by my guarantee?

I intend to call evans tomorrow, but was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction

Tony

What do you mean "the thread on the crankset appeared to still be attached to the pedal"? Do you mean it's stripped the thread in the crank?

If you fitted the pedal yourself then you have no comeback as it was either cross threaded or over tightened.

If the shop fitted them it is down to them.

If it's a carbon crank, do you mean that the pedal came out with the threaded aluminium insert from the crank still attached? In which case, you may have a valid warranty claim for the crank - getting the pedal fitting wrong might strip/cross the thread, but you'd never expect the pedal insert to come adrift from the crank. You may have to argue that you've never struck or grounded the pedal when cornering or had a crash on the bike that exerted force on the pedal.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
