Genesis Altitude 20 or 30 ?

I'm in the market for a steel XC hardtail and have been thinking about various options including the Rock Lobster 853 & Orange P7. Probably the P7 is a bit more than I need with 140mm travel, so had been thinking about the Lobster which also looks like good vfm in terms of the associated kit.
But doing a bit more thinking I do like the look of the 853 frame on the Genesis Altitude 20 and 30. It looks well designed for UK conditions, including things like some reinforcement where it's needed, forward facing seat tube, different approach to cable routing, crud catcher bosses, I think the main tubes are slightly oversized also, but not sure. All of which are plusses in my mind versus the Lobster 853 frame.
The altitude 20 is in my price range at just over £1000, although it seems to me a little underspecced in terms of groupset (mostly Deore rather than SLX on the Lobster)? Also I'm unsure about the Rockshox Recon fork - Instincitively I'd prefer to have the simplicity of a single length such as 100mm or 120mm rather than the 85 to 130mm offered on this fork. Is this a decent bit of kit ?
Which leads me to consider the Altitude 30, which has the same frame but a Reba Race 120mm fork and XT groupset all round. Nice kit but not such great value for money in my mind at £1500+? And it's a horrible lime green ..... !
Any views on the frame and relative merits of these Genesis bikes much appreciated....
Thanks
Ken

Genesis bikes are nice kit, and perfectly suited to the UK Trails. The fork on the 20 is of good quality, although in reality the travel adjust isn't that commonly used, just leave it at 115. The lime green on the 30 is personal preference......but it's a great bike.0
