ive got the pedals with straps for my road bike at the moment and there awfull. so i'm going to buy some proper pedals with proper shoes. i looked extensivley at which bike to buy but completley overlooked the the pedals and shoes. i know they are expensive and i'm going to have to spend a couple hundred ponds on the shoes and pedals but i was wondering what the diffrence is between the really expensice ones and the cheap ones and does anyone have any recomendations for pedals and shoes......

You don;t have to spend that much - Look Keo's (http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/?fn=produ ... goryId=146) and a pair of something like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=36403 all sorted for £75. There's plenty of choice, shop around, but make sure the shoes fit.

Depends on the type of riding you do also.

thanks.....i was looking at the LOOK KEO EASY peadals as you suggested and it said the spring was small so it was very easy to get your feet out of. sorry for my ignorance but does this mean you r shoe might come out unexpectadly at some point and if not whats the benefit in having a tighter spring. and ......is it best buying the shoes from a shop to make sure they fit or shall i just go online....by the way i'm going to be doing some road racing soon

If you're not sure what size, then definitely buy from a shop - or order more than one size shoe and be prepared to send one pair back.

The LOOK Keo Easy pedals are a good pedal, they won't unclip while you're riding. The Easy pedals are a simpler version of other Keo pedals, and the release mechanism can't be adjusted, but they are great pedals. I've used them for two years now and have never had any problems with them.
They are a great choice for the price.

I've got some PDR540 for sale! Very little use, but no cleats. £15 posted if you're interested!

Very little use!! :? It looks as if they have been through the wars!!

I too am looking for pedals after ordering a new roadie and am swaying towards the Shimano SPD-SL's - although just teh baisc ones, not the crazy priced Ultegra's or Dura Ace's!!

Shimano M520s spd pedals. clip in both sides. Excellent VFM. Shimano MT31 shoes. Total cost about £45-50.
