Fulcrum R3 Hub crack

A fellow cyclist has Fulcrum R3s the same as me. Mine have been fine for 11 months but the front hub on his cracked badly. Has anybody else had this problem? BTW he had no problems getting it replaced. I've recently heard of this happening to Mavic wheels on this forum.
