I'm getting a new Specialized Pitch Pro, I'm light so I've no need for a heavyweight DH bike. It'l be my AM-DH bike and am wondering is it worth my while fitting a tubless kit from the word go?
I very rarely get punctures as is and I ride a DMR trailstar for DH but my problem with tubes is the rotational mass, my trailstar used to run Michelin comp 24's with heavyweight tubes on D521's and it for this it accelerated about as fast as my granny. Made it sluggish on all aspect of the trail and I don't want that on my pitch.
So, yay or nay on the tubeless kit???
Depressed? Buy a Yeti, now you're broke AND depressed.

i like tubeless and have tried most things.

my advice is that if you are gonna do it, use proper ust/tubeless ready tyres. converting regular tyres is easy enough but not reliable in my experience.

also, dont expect tubeless to be lighter, it can be but if you are already running decent tyres tubeles could end up heavier! for the most part, tubeless tyres tend to be heavier in the first place and the rim strips and tyre milk weigh as much as standard inner tubes!

finally, tubeless is pretty expensive, especially when you think if you dont really get punctures, a pair o latex ligtweight tubes might be ligter and definately a whole lot less money and faff!
