I'll be running 36T chainring and 11-32T Cassette.

Long cage spec's =
Maximum Sprocket: 28/34T
Minimum Sprocket: 11T
Front Difference: 14T
Total Capacity: 31/37T

Short cage spec's =
Maximum Sprocket: 28/34T
Minimum Sprocket: 11T
Front Difference: single front chainring
Total Capacity: 17/23T

will I be ok with the short cage derailleur?

Cheers,
Ben

Edit: also what does this mean and which would I use - close or wide?
Mode Converter: Allows the derailleur to track to close (23-28T) & wide (32-34T) gear ratios.

go short. Mode converter is if you want ti use a close ratio cassette (road) IIRC.

  • Ah k kewl. was wondering what it meant... their site has the specs but doesn't really explain what they mean :(

I was thinking it was the small I needed, with having the single ring upfront :)

Just wish I could afford a work stand to help me set it up properly, knees were killing the other day when I fitted the E13!!

Cheers for thy holy wisdom :)

Lots of things can be used as a stand, for example I use a Keyboard stand - you could use an upside down ironing board.

if you're strugling with a workstand, you can usually rig something up with rope and a curtain rail

yea I tied my bike to a tree last time I was cleaning it - would be ideal. The landlord took a chainsaw to the tree tho, so my bodge has been destroyed :(

Anything two inches higher than saddle height will do to hang it on!

    Oh, go short.

Decathlon WS 100 workstand. £30 Cant go wrong for that money. Ive got one, saves my knees, folds up real small, holds bike well, makes dialing in your gears and bleading breaks etc very easy. 8)
