Which MTB £650 max? - XC Race/hardtail

I am looking @ MTBs at the moment, my maximum is £650 and am after a hardtail that is light and well specced for the money i am currently between the Gary Fisher pirahna and the specialized rockhopper comp, please can you suggest other good bikes for price

Have a look at the Boardman range ii Halfords, spec is always very good compared to cost0

have a look at the cube acid
this is a very well speced bike for 600 the only down side are the forks but they are rock shocks dart 3

Already looked @ boardman although they are well specced they are a bit bland, not very creative just black. i'll think about Cube Acid0

well that and Halfords would have to build it because i cant build it, and halfords are rubbish especially my local one.0
