looking at buying a meta 5 frame but only ever seen it with a 140mm fork, would like to know if the frame would be ok with a 160mm fork on it? or any suggestions for another frame of similar cost/style.
cheers, ollie.

I wouldn't put a 160mm fork on a Meta 5; it ain't designed for one and would put the frame under too much stress. If you want a Commy frame that can handle one, get the Meta 6.

Wouldnt bother with this frame at the moment has from a past thread
    it is known.
The Frame is pritty weak and now known to fall apart at the welds.
Maybe people are riding it behond what it is designed for?

Hand made by Robots though

It is a great trail frame but, as above, I wouldn't run a 160mm fork; if you want a bigger gitting bike then look elsewhere (e.g. Meta 6)

Can you link to this thread?

Oh and if you want to run 160mm forks you want a Meta 6 or another frame designed for 160mm forks.

Very short memory Pdid has this was mentioned in the Full Suss thread by XCOLLIE
youll find this bottom of page 7 in this Buying Advice Forum.
    But please attach

Actually pdid you had written that a few had cracked around the Shock mounts.
But covered by the warrantie to F king right it should be LOL

And it was Toasty with the wild tolerances and whom mentioned it was
the White Meta ones that cracked too.

But I have learned that for this year they have made the Meta lighter so it
may not be able to take the same abuse as past years models.

Was not I that rode the Commencal
But found the above very Commencal to read.

The '09 Meta frame is actually a little heavier than the '08 frame. They beefed it up a bit for '09, there's the stiffer swingarm from the Meta 6 and a heavier reinforcing gusset from the headtube to the downtube and a few other bits that don't spring to mind. It was done in response to all the mags recommending the Meta as practically a mini DH rig IIRC, which it really isn't. Might have something to do with the reports of cracked frames too, though it is generally acknowledged that this is an issue with the welds on Commie frames.

And to second what pdid said, if you want 160mm travel then the Meta 6 is designed with that in mind so that's where you should be looking if you still want a Commencal.

    Nots not exactly true Zeroman_R
In this months MBR it says the following.

Despite rumours of geometry tweaks the Meta 5 is identical to last year.
Commencal has improved the Construction. Not Beeffed UP ???
and tightened up the Tolerances, which means the frames should be
    more CONSISTANT and better made

LOLOL what W F uck shit is that.
And you still want one ?

It goes on to say and gets better (I am pissing me pants now)
Where is Super sonic and his Meka Merida carpet !

The Snag LOL Snag is we're probably never going to
see the 2007 Geometry again, which is a real shame
because, despite it being a MISTAKE or a consequence
of SLACK QUALITY CONTROL, for a brief period
COMMENCAL (LOL) Stumbled upon some Winning numbers.

LOL Probably the unfortunate soles that bought it.

Commencal never advised people to put a larger Fork up front
IE say the 160mm Just that when people started to put this longer fork
on the Yeti 575 and Orange 5 that owners then thought to put this
    fork onto the Meta5.

Wouldnt mind even Commencal didnt know that the Geometry was way out on the
Commencal 6 late last year until pointed out by the MBR mag.

The Frame maker couldnt do the angles and simply siad nothing.
