Repalce front mech

Bit of a noob question.. :?

I have a Specialized Hardrock sport disc and it has a Shimano Altus, 34.9mm clamp front mech which I need to replace.

Can I use any ie Sram X5 or do I need a particular type to match the rear?

Also any recommendations would be appreciated.

for the front yes you can use a Sram X5.
