So my new forks arrived to day sweet, I was expecting 3-6 weeks for delivery and they arrived in 4 days result!!!!
Got them on and full of Air few questions though.
Im a big lad just under 100K so I set my +ve pressure to 150 and my negative to the same had a quick play earlier seemed ok but will test it more on the trails tomorrow.
Can someone explain how the +ve and -ve pressures work/effect each other so I can have a bit more of a clue when tuning tomorrow. Also any tuning tips first air forks I've ever had.
Also the maxle on it is different to my other pikes as it does not offer adjustment on what angle you want it to lock off at. Am I stuck with it where it is or can I do something obvious to resolve it?

Basically +ve air is your spring, so first you empty both chambers then fill the +ve so you get your 10% sag.
The negative sucks the fork down into it's travel a bit more, and effects how supple the fork feels, generally put about 5psi more into -ve.
Set the +ve by sag rather than the recommendations.
After that then rebound and compression damping, also floodgate!
As for the angle, basically if you half tighten the qr then you can rotate it to get the direction you want, beware this will loosen/tighten the expanding wedge at the other end, so be careful.0 -
For the Maxle QR it's the old style from 2007, so it does not have the adaptability when you set the lever to half way. All you can do is tighten the QR up and lock off. I thought that maybe there would be a multi thread start system but there is only a single thread start point on the maxle.
It locks off at a 90degree angle to the frame sticking straight down. Now it's not an issue but if I catch it on something it may be.0 -
You'll often find that Rock Shox recommended aire pressures are way off the mark.
From my own experience, a good starting point is to set the positive spring to a pressure equal to around 75% of your body weight.
So if you are 100kg, that's 221lbs; therefore a good starting pressure will be 165psi. As has already been stated, set the negative about 5psi higher and off you go!!0 -
Went out for some DH play time today hit 2 hours of walk ups and downs. Got the forks pretty much dialed now, off to some bigger mountains tomorrow really test them out. Thanks for the advice.
Still no wordo n the QR lever position though, any one help?0
