Full facers are much more personal than regular helmets, you really need to try them on before buying.

I'd hit up the lbss near you and see what they have, or try some of your mates ones.

Hey, it was £63 a few days ago. Now it's £56.
Try before you buy as ride_whenever said.

If you've got a huge head, i think Giros do some nice really large ones.

I have an enormous bulbhead and find that 661, even xl, is too tight. I have an XL Mace which fits well at the moment. Try before you buy.
  • I just piked up THE one Vegas helmet from wiggle, nice fit and looks the bizz!!!!
    I use all 9 inches.

i have bell drop, its ok but would avoid it if i was buying again, seems kinda cheap, the visor is always loose, even after i tighten it, however i faceplanted the first time i had it on. the medium is small made

I tried on a bunch and the Fox Rampage fitted the best.

Hmmm I bought the budget 661 Full Comp from CRC for £40... although I wish I hadn't: it fits nicely and does what it's supposed to do, but really does look budget and just makes me feel like a bit of a tool in it. the peak is quite short and the vents around the mouth are rounded and not very 'aggressive' looking, if you know what i mean.

i'll get a bit of use out of it, then upgrade and spend a bit more next time, lesson learnt.

Phallus, I know what you mean, and that's what happens when you try to save money.
10 guys here are regretting that they bought the Comp and they all wished to bought
    the Strike like me, but....
And yes, the Comp is ugly.

Yeah don't I know it Xtreem - my mate bought the 2009 Strike for only £15 more, and it looks a million times nicer! Thing is, I can't justify spending the sort of cash on a TLD or THE helmet, but they are by far the best looking helmets out there :o(

yeah the old brainbox needs good protection, but helmets have to pass stringent safety tests before they can be sold so its not like a £40 skid lid equates to wearing a paper bag on your bonce.

Not totally true I am afraid,....

In the UK helmets only require the inferior EN1078 for sale.

This has been dumbed down over the years and is not as stringent as many of the others.

The most stringent tests are the Snell B90 and B95, but partially for this reason many manufacturers will not test to this level.

Finally cost is not an indicator either, there are Snell certified helmets on the market for lesss than £40 that theoretically offer greater protection than some of the £100 + models!
