I'm having trouble with squealing disc brakes and I read in the FAQs that a dab of 'copper grease' on the back of the pads can help. I was just wondering if it had to be copper grease or will any grease do?? Can you buy copper grease in a bike shop?

personally i would not do it. It can cause more problems than it cures.

But if you are going to do so. ! make sure that there are no holes nin the back of the pad backing material.
and only copper slip not any grease.

Copper grease has a very high melting point - that's why it's used in assembling brakes where dry surfaces have to run against one another.

You only need a light smear with bike brakes, don't slather it on.

Yes, but you'll pay for it. Try Halfrauds or any other car/motorbike accessory shop. I bought a 1kg tub from my local motorcycle dealer about 12 years ago for £3.99 and I've used about 1/5 of the can so far. At that rate I'll be dead before the can's empty...!
