I'm after upgrading my wheelset [at some point] on my commencal.
Unfortunately the commencal website says the rear hub is
135X10mm specific for this frame.

So do i need a specific rear hub for some new wheels?

I was thinking about halo spindoctor hubs, and found this.

Can anyone explain what i need, :? it'd be much apreciated.

Cheers

  • 135x10mm will fit standard dropouts.

What are you looking at replacing your wheels with?

The commie has 10mm horzontal dropouts, so i take it 9mm QR wont fit, i'm kinda confused.

I'm thinking of Spindoctor hubs, but i haven't decided on rims yet, maybe freedoms or SAS's. But i'm open to suggestions.

It has the same dropouts as my Mongoose.

I have 10mm bolt axles, not QR which are stiffer anyway..

Halo, DMR have some nice wheels on CRC with 10mm dropouts

I would go for a 10mm specific 24" wheel - cheap as chips as I found out.

When funds allow, I am getting these for my playbike.

With a matching 24" QR SAS wheel for front - under £200 the set
  • i have a 10mm bolt thru on my surge that fits the standard dropouts.
Won't a "normal" hub fit? or am i not understanding what your on about? lol.

He means 135mm spacing with a standard 9mm QR

I wouldn't personally use 9mm quick release on a jump/park bike with horizontal dropouts, that's not to say it can't be done, I just wouldn't trust it.

Sorry if the question was a bit vague guys.
Basically, i have horizontal dropoutsa and they will only accept a 10mm by 135mm hub.
The spindoctor hubs i'm looking at come in "standard QR" which i thought was 9mm by 350mm.
My question was, is it possible to convert the spindoctors [there's a link to a kit in the opening post] or do i need a specific 10mm by 135mm hub.

    Sorry for the confusion.

I think they are convertible - check out their website...

Or just go for a different wheel that doesn't require faffing around with...

Why not Halo SAS? No conversion required

and you mean 135mm hub I think

Changed, having a bit of a slow day :?
Spindoctors just seem more versitile [and cheaper]. CRC can build spindoctors on to freedoms for just over £150.

the standard Qr rear hub is 10 X 135. NOT 9mm

    Cheers for the help guys.
So it's just as simple as taking the QR out and putting a nutted axle in Nick?

    Halo spin-doctor hubs nic.
Going on horizontal dropouts, i thought nutted would be more stable, or am i wrong?

  • Its still the same size nut... just done up with a hex key instead of QR. NO difference.

up to you, not really needed.

but for a tenner and a 10min job it is a cheap and easy change over if you feel you need to do it.
