I am looking for a new pair of wheels and am considering Mavic Aksiums and Shimano RS10, the Mavics are slightly lighter but on the recent review on bikeradar is said the spoke tension on the Mavics loosen off, also the Shimanos got a very good review, anybody had any problems with Aksiums or RS10s?. I would rather get the slightly heavier pair if it meant reliability was better.
cheers Jamie

6 months riding RS10s round crap strewn Suffolk lanes and still dead true and spoke tension is very uniform. I have no experience of Aksiums.

Got a pair of RS10s on my bike (factory fitted), and the bearings in the rear hub collapsed after a day.

That said, shop replaced the wheel there and then and have so far notched up about 100 miles or so on the replacement with no trouble whatsoever. Wheels are true despite the best efforts of Putney Bridge potholes to change that.
