Thru-axle greasing

This evening I've taken the rear wheel out of the gambler to fit a new tyre, however, I had a real struggle getting the 12mm axle out as it was very dry. What should I use, if anything to lube it up to make re-insertion/future removal easier? This might sound like a daft question, but I don't want to go slapping any old grease or oil on the axle in case it has some random adverse effect or something :?

coppa paste anti seize.
nothing is moving so grease is not good as it can act like glue."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
