Quick Mavic cassette question?
I am selling a couple of pairs of Mavic wheels, Equipe and Elite, and have some one interested in both sets, but he only has 7 speed on his bike.
I know that the freehub is ok for 9 and 10 speed cassttes, but what about 7 speed?
Can any one advise me please?
Of course it would have helped greatly if he had a spare 7 sp cassette to try......oh, if only life was that easy!

The splines on a 7 speed cassette are different from 9/10 speed - the only way to make it work would be to respace the sprockets on a 9/10 speed cassette. Your LBS will probably be able to help with those - dismantling an old cassette or Highpath Engineering have info on their website and sell spacers too.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

If this helps.
I have just removed a 7 speed from a wheel and fitted a 9 speed to it, I had to remove 1 of the sprockets to make it narrow enough to go on. It may need a spacer behind the 7 speed cassette to enable ti to be fitted.0 -
all the mavic cassettes I have had ,have the same spline pattern0

Thanks gents for your help, hopefully this should clinch the deal for me."You only need two tools: WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape"0
