I was changing the spring on my fox van R today, the adjustable nut thing was stuck so I ran a bit of warm soapy water over it to free up the dirt. I gave it a twist and the bottom of the shock/ plunger came away in my hands, followed by a load of oil. Somehow the nut on the piston must have worked loose inside, there is no damaged to the thread on the bottom part.

Couple of Q's
How do you undo the nut on top of the main cylinder highlighted by the red arrow? It is on so tight, I can't budge it.
What weight shock oil is needed to refill it?

Is there anything here useful for you? Sorry if you've alreadt looked, but thought it was worth mentioning:

You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Hmmm, if it were me (after the initial panic period was over) I'd package that up and fire it off to Mojo.

But then I've never taken a shock apart.
