Hey
I am getting this horrible squeel from my rear, and its not the curry
It happens when I am walking my bike not riding.
Is it simple to take apart the hub and clean and grease, or is this the job for the LBS.
I have never even taken a cassette off before, but hey would give it a go.
Just dont want hundreds of parts to fall out and then I wont know were they go.
Thanks so much
PS
The hub is a normal mavic crossride hub, I do look after my bike with a solid clean every week.

Anyone taken a hub apart?
Am about to clean my bike.
Thanks0 -
Yeah i`ve just done it for the first time, fairly simple but you need a few tools.I think mavics are different, though,as they have sealed cartridges not loose bearings which are easily replaced.Smarter than the average bear.0

remove the caliper. does it still squeek?
as it only happen when walking the bike is there a problem?
and dont strip the mavic hub as you will need new parts."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks guys.
Gave it a good clean and put white spirits around the hub ends to clean.
It seems ok now, and put gt-45 or 85 whatever its called and let it soak in.
I have another problem now, There is dirt and gunk in my steer tube. and its sandy and gritty and it wont come out after the clean.
Its one thing after another with me!0 -
