Cane creek headsets

Hi,
Can anyoen tell me if new cane creek headsets come with the spacer thingy that is needed to go on the steerer tube of the forks? Or would I need to buy one of these separately?
Are all cane creek bearings the same shape and size as I have acquired a frame that already has cane creek cups in it and would like to try to reuse these rather than have to remove them and fit new ones.
Many thanks.
Chris

therer are lots of different headsets out there. and steerer spacers are bought separately.
what is the frame?
Make, model and year and we will see if we can tell you what headset you need."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sorry Nick, I appreciate that there are hundreds of different types of headsets out there, but I am only interested in the cane creek ones as the frame has the cups already in it. And if I can reuse those so much the better, so I wanted to know if I buy a cane creek headset will the bearings fit the cups, or do cane creek use different size/type of bearings in all their 1&1/8 headsets or do they differ in any way?
And my fault, when i said spacer, i didnt mean the height adjusting spacer above the headset but below the stem, I meant the ring that goes on top of the crown of the forks for the bottom bearings to sit on.
The frame is a carbon Giant XTC, not sure of its age sorry.http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

no as i said there are meny different specs out there.
yes a lot use the same cartridge but with out knowing what you have?
look on the old bearings and see what the numbers are and then pop down to your local bearing shop and get some."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I dont have the old bearings, all I have is the frame with the cups in it. Hence the question.
Please can anyone else help? Do headsets come with the bearing race bottom piece that goes on the fork steerer? Or are they sold separately?http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

the whole lot tends to come in one box.
some places may stock the correct crown race but you will need to know the angle you need if a cartridge bearing ...
CC tend to use 36 deg. on the inner edge.
Oh i should add that they also have a few different crown races depending on the headset model."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok cool thanks Nick.
I'll order a headset and then if the bearings dont fit take it to the bike shop and get the headset cups swapped over.http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7231/6933696372_603c9ce220_b.jpg

as long as you get the right type of headset.
i can not be more specific as i do not know what the frame is.
As i am sure you know there are basically 3 different 1 1/8th headset designs and you need the right one for the job."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

You can get the cane creek S8 very cheap if you google it. Only a bit more than the bearings on there own. I think the bearings are the same as the S3 iirc but you might as well start a fresh by the sounds of it.0
