Are nobby nics worth it?

I'm thinking of giving my Ransom 40 a pair of nobby nic tyres for its next refurbishment .
The nobby nics are found on my bike's higher end versions but i'm wondering if it is worth it spending £120 on a pair of tyres that are said to give superb offroad performance

Won't cost you £120 unless your Ransom is a trike that's for sure!
Doesn't seem to suit the knarliness of the bike to me though as a tyre... could be wrong, isn't it a 160mm bike good at downhill and that. If thats how you ride it then High Rollers?0 -
eerm £120 for nobby nics, IIRC more like £40 - £50 but they are really good. That said I'd go for a pair of panarace rampage tyres on a ransom...0

i think its because my tyres are 2.4 rather than 2.1 thats whats driving the cost to £60 per tyre thats what the evans cycles managers has said apparentlySpecialized Camber

Well, not with you there, about £40 a pop, first look... http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Schwa ... 360022748/
You'd find them cheaper too. They're very XC orientated tyres though. High Rollers, Rampages yeah, Nevegals? That would seem more natural choices, maybe in 2.35s0 -
I haven't used this lot but if you did want Nobby Nic 2.4s ... http://www.rushcycles.co.uk/products.ph ... 1119&rs=gb ...two of them delivered for £65
or... if you mean UST then more money but still a pair for under £90 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=191620 -
I'd seriously try the rampage, I've never been astonished by a tyre before the rampage. I was amazed by the wet grip and the really fast rollingness, they're only marginally slower than the razer MX that it replaced on the front.0

I love mine but I dont ride through rocks. If you`re an agressive rider or going fast through rock gardens they might not be the best choice (according to reviews). For less `extreme` riding I think they`re superb.0

I love Nobby Nics but they may not be what you are after. Fast Rolling XC orientated.0

So why do the current year Ransoms have them?

I payed £45 each for 2.2 snakeskin nobby nics from my lbs which they ordered in special . Worth every penny, and imho are excellent in all conditions. They had never stocked them and asked for some feed back on how they performed, which i duely gave. And let the tech fella in shop have a go on my bike. There now a regular stock item. Say no more.0

2.4 KN´s on the front of the XC bike and 2.4 RR´s or the rear."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Because the Scott marketing men know they're the must have tyre at the moment, there was a time when every bike came with 1.85 Tiogas, didn't mean it was necessarily the best tyre to have!0 -
Try the Schwalbe Fat Albert
The right tyre for the bike0
