Replacement cones
I know you can buy new cones for hubs but I'm not sure what I need. I had a quick look at SJS Cycles and they seem to list everything as being for a particular model of hub and I couldn't see my model listed (Ultegra 6600 at the rear and I've no idea what the front one is as it's unbranded).
Is this usually the case? Are there any "universal" cones you can buy that will fit anything?
Also, is it possible to upgrade cones, or are the ones that come sold with the hubs usually good quality anyway?
And finally, does anyone have any strong opinions on either of these two greases, when it comes to packing hub bearings?

Ultegra, as do all Shimano, rear hubs use 10mm cones.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Thank you.
What about front hubs?
And are there different qualities of cones?0 -
Shimano fronts would generally be 9mm but I've got a 10mm front MTB in bits. Unbranded hubs might not be.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Cheers again.
Not having much joy locating any for sale online. Does anyone know somewhere that sells cones? SJS is the only place I've found so far but all of their cones are listed for a particular model of hub.
See here for examples:

Can you post a pic of the hub or take it to a local bike shop? Cones aren't too expensive so even if they overcharge it won't be too damaging to the wallet. The #1 criteria I have for grease is that it gets used. Both brands you requested about will work about the same although the R&R looks a little cheaper.0

Visit Ultimatepursuits, which is the madison web portal thingie and order there and collect from a shop of your choice locally.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

I had difficulty finding hub cones last year and came across this shop which was able to supply the correct Cones for my old Ultegra Front hub. I had never heard of them before but their service was good.

Thank you.
I've contacted Petra cycles with the correct Shimano part numbers for the cones I need and it seems that the right-hand cone is available but the left-hand cone isn't, which seems a little weird.
Firstly, does anyone know why Shimano would sell spares for the right side without selling the left side? And secondly does anyone know of a different left cone that would do the same job? I'm guessing it's mostly a question of spacing and dust sealing rather than fitting the thread because I could just buy two right-hand cones if I didn't have to worry about axle protrusion spacing.
The part numbers, if anyone wants to know, are:
Y-3AE 03100 = Right Hand Cone (M10 x 9 mm)
Y-3C9 98030 = Left Hand Cone (M10 x 16 mm) w/Dust Cover & Seal Ring
The hub is an Ultegra FH-6600
