Chainsaty protection

I have a Colnago Dream with the carbon B'stays. When the chain comes off the chainrings it tends to chew up the carbon at the end of the carbon stays. I've noticed that on some quality carbon frames there is a metal protector over this section. The Orbea Orca even has a Ti one. Anyone have a tip or advice on how to protect this part of the frame. Thanks.

Just google "bicycle chainstay protectors". Most online and local bike shops sell some version of stick on or velcro protector. Some look nice enough to enhance even a Colnago.

How often does your chain come off?

If regularly, then adjusting your front mech would solve this. If it's occasional for other reasons, then fit a dogfang.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

assuming your front & rear mechs are properly set, there should be no reason for the chain to fall off the rings in normal riding. I would be looking at why this is happening...
  • Hardly ever happens. But when it does, if I do a bad gearchange etc, the carbon stays will get scratched or damaged.
Might have a look at these dog fangs..

You may find that it won't fit on a carbon frame because the seat-tube / bottom bracket junction is likely to be flared and/or the seat tube may be to fat. What about careful setting of the lower limit screw on the mech, and putting tape (Bike Tape, Duck Tape or Frame Wrap or something similar) over the affected parts.
