I am currently recovering from a cycling accident and to aid my recovery I have decided to look for a new bike.
My employer has signed up to Evans Cycles Ride2Work scheme and essentially a £1,000 bike would cost me around £600 or so.
I have done a bit of research and on my short-list are the following bikes:
I have narrowed it down to the following:
Trek 1.7 Triple - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/trek/17-triple-2009-road-bike-ec016478
Specialized Allez Elite - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/allez-elite-2009-road-bike-ec016880
Cannondale Caad9 105 - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/cannondale/caad9-105-compact-2008-road-bike-ec015463
Focus Cayo - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Focus_Cayo_105_2009/5360037591/
Bianchi B4P Carbon - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/bianchi/b4p-c-tech-carbon-105-2008-road-bike-ec016051
The Focus Cayo really does throw the cat amongst the pigeons as it is much better received in reviews than the Trek and Specialized, however it isn't available from Evans and is thus not eligible under the bikes for work scheme.
The Bianchi is a little over my budget at £1100 but it's a full carbon frame, Shimano 105 throughout and discounted from £1700.
My key question is "which bike is best"? What do people recommend?

The Focus looks like excellent value for money. I would buy one if I could afford it.
Then again, the CAAD9 in Liquigas colours is tempting, and the frame is widely regarded as one of the best Aluminium frames on the market.
You know what, I don't think you could go far wrong with any of the above. Get the one which really floats your boat. But how about this one from Evans? It seems good value for money.
