Ear warmers, and helmets?!!

Evening guys,

After having ear surgery for surfers ear in December, cold ears = pain.

10 degrees outside at the mo is still too cold for ear comfort.

I've tried the choob headwrap things which just seem too tight and uncomfortable, a beanie hat is too thick to fit a helmet over. i'm wondering if anyone else has a good method for keeping ears warm?

Indeed they are. I have a pair and they work very well. Can't say I use them that often but they do keep my ears warmer than a skull cap and I can hear better than with a headband.

Running headband for me, very thin but keeps my tabs and forehead warm.

I wear a Northwave Polartec skullcap, absolutely fabulous and you can still hear too, pardon.

it works fine with my Giro Hex and my Fox Flux helmets, you just need to back the ratchet straps off a couple of clicks.

I do have a buff too, but then the top of my head sometimes gets too hot!

I am currently using the saint beanie that came free with MBUK and it works fine with the helmet.

Saying that its starting to get sweaty now the temps increasing

Might consider the skullcap.

I wear a buff in a pirate style and pull it down over my ears. Because it is so thin, my helmet doesn't need adjusting and the amount of protection provided is not reduced.

Another vote for the headband. Ears stay toasty while the head stays cool.

Ground Effect do a bandana headband type thing which you can wear just below tour lid, over your ears. They cost about eight quid with the current exchange rate (new zealand). If you buy something from them, then give a friends mailing address they send you a free one as a thankyou. Bargain.

Have ordered some ear bags off the bay for £2 ish!

but in the mean time for todays ride went to Decathlon and got one of those skiing bands which cover ears but one specifially for biking. Very slim profile, couple of vent holes, fleece on inside and doesn't effect helmet. Only downside was having no ears to rest my shades on LOL (not comfy trying to have them on under the headband)
