Alternative 7+ inch travel triple clamp forks?

Most people these days tend to run RockShox Boxxers, Fox 40s or Marzocchi 888s. This is perfectly understandable as there all great forks at a not to ridiculous a price and are all are very well marketed. But are there any real alternatives out there? Perhaps money is not a issue for you, is there a better fork out there than what these 3 offer? Or your old fork is getting past it and you would like to try something different as long as its performance is not a million miles away from what your running now? Maybe you see another brand of fork at a cheap offer price? There are many alternatives out there if you look for them. You may see your competitors in DH races using forks from the likes of Avalanche Racing, Bionicon, Bos, Conspiracy, DNM, Foes, Kowa, Manitou, MSC, Risse, RST, Showa, Tech-in, White Brothers, X-fusion and a few others. But what are these forks like and could you even get hold of them if you wanted them? Are you using another brand fork? If so what do you think of it?

The RSTs and a Hammebrink I once used were awful.0

I recall my old RSTs too and they were not fond memories. Perhaps things have improved?
I am really interested in the Tech-In at the moment as you see in Japan they do very well. They are always top placing in the national events. They do cost a small fortune (Lot more than Fox40s) and the manufacture does not sell outside of Japan.0 -
I saw an interesting comment from Showa a while back, in a motorbike mag, basically saying "We piss about with mountain bike suspension, we lose money on it, and we don't really make anything very good but we learn loads from it, then we use that to make our motorbike stuff better". Which is a nice insight but would put me off buying their mtb kitUncompromising extremist0

The Kowa forks tend to get good reviews but there yet another one that tends to just sell in Japan.0
