What are the lightest wheels under 300 quid? Would hand-builts be the best option :?: Payday looms and,as usual, i've become befuddled with the vast array of choice,

Xeros must be a candidate. They have some 1500g ish ones for 200ish I seem to recall. Not the stiffest in the world by some accounts but there you go. Have a look on Parkers.
Handbuilts will weigh more than that, at that price point (based on new components) but for ride quality and reliability handbuilts would be where I would spend that amount of cash. Maybe Ultegra hubs, DT rev spokes, prolock nipples and Open Pro rims?Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Cheers dog I've got various wheels lying about but they all weigh loads so just want light, light, light. i only weigh 63kg so strength shouldn't be a huge issuewinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

just been browsing myself, and Merlin have the 09 Ksyrium Elites for £360, which are 1550g and look impressive. Over budget of course but a big step up from the Xeros in terms of design, and they do look good....Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

Hmmm should be careful, budget is an easy thing to get carried away with, see here:

 , did see some for 15 k, but can't remember where, probably shouldn't have asked, that's 2 more to the equation and so far they all seem roughly similar weights at that price point, cheers :? :arrow:winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

EA70s - 1650g for around £260. Not sure if they're actually the lightest, but I'm very happy with mine...0 -
Another vote for the Xeros - I got mine from the States when it was 2 for 1 on the exchange rate, worked out sub £200 never mind sub £300. Mine have been fine so far - done a few thousand km including Fred Whitton, the Etape etc. Haven't noticed any noticeable flex and I'm not the lighest (85kg).
Another option might be Planet X type B - think they are around 1600g and get good reviews (on bikeradar at the moment).0 -
