i have upgraded my giant xtc 4 hardtail from 8 speed to 9 speed using the sram x7 shifters and s9 rear mech i took off my stumpy, i used a used cassette a used chain and the granny and middle rings are middleburn rings that have hardly been used [ i'm skint hence the bodging ] to my suprise everything is working very well, i'm going out tomorrow to see how it works on a ride, the only real problem is the chain is very reluctant to drop onto the highest ring, no9 i it will drop on if you clickit up really fast say from no5cog but not from 8 to 9 , the screwss are set properly so i'm stuck please help

New cable should do the trick if the mech is correctly set up.
