Long or Medium Cage Rear Mech ?

Don't know the difference although I guess it should be obvious, which one and why should I use to replace the bashed about mech on a Rockrider 6.3. Decathlon are send me a new hanger (£7) and there is new X9 shifter going on the front after the LBS broke the last one, they are paying good chaps.
